TOM CHITTENDEN

TOM CHITTENDEN IS THE PRESIDENT OF GIGA SOCIETY PROFESSIONAL.

With over 25 years of experience in experimental and theoretical research, I currently hold an Honorary Professorship at University of London.

In my role as Chief Scientific Officer (CSO) at BullFrog AI, I lead global scientific strategy and operations and oversee the development and deployment of the innovative bfLEAP™ technology platform. This explainable AI platform seamlessly blends statistical machine learning and robust data management capabilities for high-performance computing (HPC) environments, ensuring unparalleled data security and employing integrated causal AI and graph-based analytic strategies tailored for drug discovery and development.

My academic journey includes roles as a Lecturer at Boston Children’s Hospital and Harvard Medical School of Harvard University, as well as a Visiting Lecturer in Biological Engineering at MIT. My research, published in top-tier research journals such as Nature and Science, focuses on quantum machine learning, systems biology, and cellular behavior, with significant implications for advancing drug discovery and development.

I have been honored with the AI Excellence Award by the Business Intelligence Group and recognized as one of the top 100 Pioneers in Drug Discovery by Deep Knowledge Analytics and Forbes Magazine. My expertise in causal AI/SciML within the biomedical domain is internationally acknowledged.

Past leadership positions include CSO and President of R&D at BioAI Health, and President and Chief Technology Officer (CTO) at Genuity Science, where I spearheaded transformative AI initiatives in the pharmaceutical sector. Since 2012, I have led the Complex Biological Systems Alliance (CBSA), a global research consortium advancing our understanding of biological complexity.

At the University of London, I contribute to an international Healthcare Initiative leveraging over 3 million clinical patient samples to propel forward drug discovery and development efforts. Drawing upon my extensive network of academic and industry connections, I foster collaborations that drive groundbreaking advancements in biomedicine, shaping the future of global healthcare.

Dr. Chittenden is an Accredited Professional Statistician™ with the American Statistical Association, and he holds a PhD in Molecular Cell Biology and Biotechnology from Virginia Tech and a DPhil in Computational Statistics from the University of Oxford.
